What makes Manuka Honey different?

Manuka honey is made by our buzzing little bee friends that pollinate the Manuka Tree, a tea tree shrub abundant with white and pink flowers making it pretty irresistible for our favourite flying bug. Its beautiful flowers are what give the honey a richer colour and earthier flavour compared to other honeys.

What are the skincare benefits of Manuka honey?

Manuka honey is an incredible little thing. It’s said to be a natural antibiotic, which makes it a wonderful natural remedy from helping wounds, to soothing coughs, improving sleep quality and some even suggest better oral health! But why the buzz when it comes to skincare?

Swisse is all aglow with Manuka honey and have even made it a hero ingredient in our new skincare range as it can help:

  • Give the skin a gentle but effective cleanse

  • Provide a boost of moisture

  • Keep the skin looking soft and oh-so-dewy

  • Protect the skin’s moisture barrier

  • Provide a healthy and natural glow

Above all, Manuka honey is scientifically proven to draw moisture to the skin, improving overall skin appearance and glow, and who doesn’t want that?!

Where is it sourced from?

Swisse doesn’t just get its Manuka honey from anywhere, it’s sourced from the dreamy South Taranaki region of New Zealand. Its location is so vast and remote that beekeepers sometimes need to use helicopters to lift the hives into the stands of flowering Manuka trees for the summer!

After the Manuka flow, the beekeepers bring all of the hives back to the home block, which has 2,000 acres of native bush for the bees to “winter” on. More importantly, the bees are never exposed to pesticides or other chemicals. Learn more about how Swisse source Manuka Honey.

Good for the skin? Really?

This beautiful, natural ingredient a huge list of skin-loving benefits when it comes to antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It balances your skin’s pH level and helps get rid of dead cell debris to keep your skin clean. Manuka honey strengthens the skin’s moisture barrier and provides a glowing, hydrated and more radiant skin.
