For the vegan

There are plenty of appetising alternatives to help you create your own vegan Christmas recipe from non-vegan ones. Replace butter with vegan margarine, cheese with vegan cheddar shreds, and eggs with replacers such as tofu and applesauce. Top it off with some vegan-friendly wine for a wonderful time.

For the lactose intolerant

To cook without lactose, just replace cow milk with soy, almond or coconut milk. Change classic Christmas recipes to be dairy-free, such as this quick and easy eggnog recipe.

For those on a gluten-free diet

Christmas turkey tastes great with gluten-free gravy! All you need is wheatless flour, beef stock and some red wine. It’ll be the highlight of your festive meal.

For the diabetic

Being diabetic doesn’t mean you have to miss out on desserts. Serve this diabetic friendly pear and raspberry crumble with low-fat plain yogurt for a delicious treat.

For those allergic to nuts

If your Christmas recipe contains nuts, replace them with soy, seeds or hummus instead. Make a delicious nut-free fruitcake by adding more fruits and brandy.
