Bring IT Back

It’s the end of the year — the perfect time for some I.T. spring cleaning. Getting new computer accessories is always fun, but what do you do with the old ones? Give it to the op shop? Throw them in the trash?

Here’s a simple solution: drop them off at your nearest Officeworks store!

An estimated 138,000 tonnes of new electronics are sold in Australia per year with almost 106,000 tonnes of electronic waste ending up in landfill. E-waste is toxic and a huge loss of the Earth’s precious resources!

We’re hoping to stop this trend with our Bring IT Back program.

Thinking about upgrading for 2014? Bring IT Back helps you be eco-friendly while staying tech-savvy. Since 2008, we’ve proudly collected a whopping 239 tonnes of waste. That’s the same as 23,900 computers!

Through Bring IT Back, up to 98% of the material in the device is recovered and recycled. By bringing in used monitors, printers, scanners and other I.T. accessories, you’ll help keep valuable materials such as steel, glass and precious metals (gold, silver, copper) from going to waste.

Once you’ve recycled your old computer systems, shop for new desktops, printers and scanners here.

We’ve also partnered with Cartridges 4 Planet Ark, Mobile Muster and Batteryback to help you recycle printer cartridges, mobile phones and rechargeable batteries. Join us as we help the environment one electronic item at a time. Find out more.

While it’s still National Recycling Week, why not do a quick scan of the office to see what e-waste can be recycled?

Disposing e-waste doesn’t have to be a chore. Just drop them off at your nearest Officeworks store!
